JG Ingenieros has provided the architecture and facilities engineering service for the design and construction management of the expansion and rehabilitation of the Laboratories for the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI), located in Parque Hospitalario Martí i Julià, in Salt.
Laboratories for the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI) is a research center of the Generalitat de Catalunya, whose purpose is to promote, develop, manage, transfer and disseminate biomedical research, scientific and technological knowledge, teaching and training in the field of life sciences and health, in the surroundings of Girona.
The expansion of the building will be carried out on the ground floor with a new building to the south, attached to the main entrance of the adjoining building where the administrative area and common spaces such as a classroom, meeting rooms, etc. will be located. On the other hand, the reform will be carried out on the same ground floor also attached to the entrance and currently intended for administrative uses. Laboratories and additional research spaces will be located in the area to be reformed.
The new spaces that will be developed in the project will allow the institution to face the future with guarantees of being able to absorb its natural growth due to the increase in biomedical research in Girona. The built area of this intervention is 503 m² of extension and 346 m² of reform of existing spaces.
