JG Ingenieros has provided the facilities engineering service for the design, construction management and energy certification of the Catalana Occidente – Isla C Business Area, also called “Catalana Parc”, located in the town of Sant Cugat del Vallès, in Barcelona.
The complex consists of 6 office buildings for rent equipped with the latest technology. Each building has 5 floors above ground and private parking on 4 floors below ground, reaching a total constructed area of 49,620 m2, plus a garden area of 14,700 m2. The offices total 34,620 m2 and the other 15,000 m2 correspond to the underground car park. The level plant is intended for commerce, catering and various services.
The 6 buildings have waterproofing and drainage systems in all the walls of the underground plants, collecting the filtered water that, with the rain, is used in the irrigation of the garden areas. On the roofs are located 54 photovoltaic and solar thermal collectors, along with centralized cooling towers, which achieve a reduction in energy consumption of 54% compared to conventional systems.
The building obtained an Energy Rating type “B”.
