JG Ingenieros has collaborated with the Ministère de la Santé Publique du Cameroun, within an Emergency Plan for the construction of 8 new general hospitals throughout the country. The complete service of programming and functional plan, basic project and execution of architecture and engineering of facilities and biomedical equipment project has been provided.
In this project, we worked in close collaboration with local actors, from the programming and functional plan phase that included an exhaustive study of local needs with visits and interviews in the existing infrastructures, in order to evaluate and adequately respond to the needs of each city. After the approval of these documents by the authorities, the development of all the basic project documentation and architecture and engineering execution and biomedical equipment project was carried out, in order to complete the necessary documentation for the correct bidding and construction of the infrastructures. .
The 8 buildings are general hospitals, 2 of which are university hospitals, 3 for mothers and children, and 3 for specialties. The total offer of 810 beds and each hospital has 3 operating rooms, a 12-bed ICU, an obstetrics unit with 3 delivery rooms, an emergency area, diagnostic imaging and between 15 and 20 consultation rooms. Work has been done to adapt the design as much as possible to the specific local needs, available materials, climate, etc., also achieving a homogeneous image of all the buildings, standardizing the architectural solutions as much as possible.
