Sustainability

The sustainability of the building is one of the three pillars of sustainability, along with economic and social.

JG Ingenieros is an expert in the analysis and bioclimatic proposals for building: passive systems, ventilation and natural lighting, use of resources, etc.

JG Ingenieros has expert technicians in simulation of these different strategies for building, and accredited technicians for environmental certifications such as LEED and BREEAM,and wellness certifications such as WELL,both for new construction buildings and for existing buildings.

We offer advice and assistance in the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Buildings and in the Study of the Life Cycle Cost of Buildings (LCCA)

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Buildings Methodology for the analysis and evaluation of the environmental impacts associated with all phases of the life of the building. The mentioned analysis may be carried out in accordance with the specific LEED or BREEAM methodology (UNE-EN 15978:2012). Advice to identify corrective measures to reduce the environmental impacts associated with the building.

Study of the Life Cycle Cost of Buildings (LCCA) Methodology to analyze and evaluate the costs associated with all phases of the building’s life in order to help make informed decisions regarding the design, operation and maintenance throughout the life of the building. The study may be carried out in accordance with the specific BREEAM methodology (UNE-EN 15643-4: 201211)

Environmental consulting includes the analysis of environmental and energy efficiency measures and criteria in the design phase, which minimize the impact of the building on its natural environment.

Sustainability criteria

Following this objective, a guide of sustainability criteria applicable to the architectural and engineering project of facilities is made to design a building that:

  • Reduce the energy demand demanded by the operation of your facilities,
  • Use natural and renewable resources and energies,
  • Incorporate recyclable and easily renewable materials,
  • Minimize water consumption and reuse and take advantage of the wastewater generated,
  • And that guarantees a high quality of the indoor environment.

And, consequently:

  • Savings are obtained in operating and maintenance costs.
  • The well-being, comfort and health of the occupants of the building is improved.
  • The environmental impact of the project on the environment is minimized.
  • Increase the value of the building.
