The expansion and renovation of the “La Peineta” Olympic Stadium was planned to adapt the venue to the requirements of Madrid’s bid for the 2012 Olympic Games. The project was intended to increase its capacity to 75,000 spectators and provide for its subsequent transformation into a football stadium, guaranteeing the continued use of the complex.
With a total area of 111,277 m², the proposal included an expansion of 47,000 m². The intervention filled the empty areas of the landscaped basin with new continuous stands and a common lightweight roof, designed to maintain the unity of the complex and accommodate both Olympic and football use.
JG Ingenieros developed the MEP engineering services , providing the services of preliminary design and basic design, with study of alternatives, calculation bases, implementation of systems and documentation for licensing, and the execution project, with calculations, specifications, quality control, measurements, budget, schemes and construction details.
This project corresponds to the initial phase of the venue, prior to the adaptation developed between 2014 and 2017 for the current Riyadh Air Metropolitan Stadium .
