Meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the UPC-JG Chair

On June 11, we held the semiannual meeting of the monitoring committee of our UPC-JG university chair in Barcelona, reviewing current projects and potential new ones.

The energy performance simulation project for logistics warehouses we are carrying out for Montepino is well advanced and should be completed this July. (The graph shows the results of improving the façade’s thermal insulation by 20% over a sequence of summer days.)

The study of air diffusion in high-biosafety laboratories is making progress in terms of fluid dynamic simulation, but we still lack the approval of the CSIC to install the measurement probes necessary for future validation of the digital model (“digital twin”).

The work on “advanced energy simulation with Design Builder” has been completed, generating a well-received technical publication. Work is now underway on a circularity and carbon footprint catalog of different construction materials, geared toward data centers.

The commission also approved opening a new line of research on the application of generative artificial intelligence in the pre-design of industrial buildings.
